One of the big selling points of LiveNX is the ability to see DSCP mismatches across the network. However, the larger the amount of network devices we have the more we find we’re reliant on reporting/alerting.
- Can we alert on DSCP mismatches, an example is a bug in our access switch occasionally changes the marking policy incorrectly. We would like to setup a custom alert at a minimum (built-in would be nice), to alert when “flow.app=rtp & flow.dscp!=EF”. The custom alerting is locked down to blacklist, and Medianet/AVC/PFR/NSEL events only. I understand the need for throttling and in LiveNX it is done by limited events instead of by throttling checks. For now, we’re running DSCP reports with the same query, but it would be nice to be alerted as its happening to jump onto issues.
- UDP path flow analysis does not provide any information- blank window, but TCP path flow analysis does – is this normal? For UDP RTP we’d want to use this feature.
Thanks for the suggestions.
(1) is in the works and should be available in the product in the short/mid term (read 6 months).
(2) You should be able to see path analysis for RTP traffic. Can you please open a support case here: http://www.liveaction.com/support/technical-support/. We will work with you to get to the bottom of this.
